Welcome to Barking and Dagenham – one of the most exciting places in the capital. We’ve transformed the way we provide services and have become London’s biggest growth opportunity with a growing reputation as a place to invest and prosper.
We know a lot of places probably say the same thing, but how many can boast they are home to London’s largest film studios, that 98% of schools are rated good and outstanding by Ofsted, that they have the capital’s first multi-million pound Youth Zone; that they have ambitious plans to build 50,000 new homes in 20 years or that this once industrial heartland is becoming increasingly attractive to artists.
As Barking and Dagenham changes and improves, we’re making sure our residents benefit from the transformation. We’re a dynamic, forward-thinking borough and have recently shifted our focus from place to people. We have the youngest population and fast-changing communities with diverse needs.
